Alleviate burrs with MITGI deburring knives

Featured Image

In many industries that require precision machining, burrs left behind during manufacturing can get in the way of the product's performance or could cause the part to fail inspection. For these reasons, parts must be burr-free. To remove the burrs, manufacturers have two main options: change the way the part is machined so that it alleviates burrs altogether, or remove the burrs by hand during a late stage of production. Sometimes, changing the way that the part is made isn't an option or could be very costly to change. When deburring by hand is the best option, MITGI deburring knives provide a quality product that helps make removing burrs fast and easy.

MITGI offers a line of standard deburring knives that are a great option for many applications. Available in several shank diameters (1mm, 1/16", 3/32", and 1/8"), with 7° and 10° options, in either Carbide or HSS, MITGI standard deburring knives provide an inexpensive option that is available in 3-days or less. Standard deburring knives have quantity-based pricing - the more you buy, the less expensive the price per tool. Quantity breaks for standard deburring knives are: 1-49, 50-599, 600+. Learn more about the standard tool options and pricing in our catalog.

There are times when parts are angled or have features that make deburring more difficult. In situations like that, custom deburring knives are a good option to consider. The most common part-specific features for custom deburring knives:

  • Shank diameter: Most widely used inch sizes include 3/64”, 1/16”, 5/64”, 3/32”, 1/8”, 3/16”. In metric: 1MM, 3MM, 4MM, and 6MM
  • Overall length: Any OAL is possible, but frequently used overall lengths are 1-1/4”, 1-1/2”, 2”, 3”, 4”
  • Substrate: Carbide or HSS
  • Degree: Any degree is possible, but common options include 2°, 3°, 5°, 7°, 8°, 10°
